The Maypole Band

The band is usually comprised of:

Dave Algar, 5 string banjo & banjolele

Joe Ellis, flute & whistle (also with Sussex folk rock outfit The Yardales)

Gary Holder, double bass (also of Martyn Wyndham Read's No Man's Band)

Ian Holder, accordion (former member of Ashley Hutchings' Etchingham Steam Band)

Kevin Jones, fiddle

with caller Sue Mills

As well as playing for dances in the South East we are some of the musicians in an annual show "Maypoles to Mistletoe".  Together with the Broadwood Morris Men, The Magog Ladies, The Rusper Mummers, speaker Jim Farr, and local folk singers and professional folk singer

Martyn Wyndham Read , we present a celebration of the year in music, songs, dance and verse.  This takes place at The Hawth studio in Crawley, The Electric Theatre Guildford, and on one occasion at Cecil Sharp House, the London home of the English Folk Dance and Song Society.
